Our Team & Our Website! | September 2020 Newsletter

It's been quite a month!

First of all, thank you to all who contributed to our "Getting to Know Your Winter Style" User Feedback Questionnaire! Your responses were so valuable to our design process, and brought great clarity and focus as we finalize our upcoming Winter Collection.

For those of you who are following Shiny Elephants on social media, you have also watched as we've explored prototyping and progressed into the manufacturing phase of the design process. We have searched locally and across the globe to find the best manufacturers, and to source the finest materials, to create exciting products for your home. Seeking the perfect manufacturer can be intimidating. But with a lot of help, and a lot of luck, we have found some excellent partners whom we are excited to engage!

Fun Fact: Shiny Elephants just ordered our first run of textile samples! So exciting!

We should receive these samples in about three weeks, and will be sure to keep YOU, our Shiny Elephant Insider, up to date on the latest!

The S.E. Team

It takes a village to get a start-up business launched and running and Shiny Elephants is no exception. We are lucky to have the best team of ladies keeping this business running. Please meet the Shiny Elephants team.

Emily Platt | Founder & Creative Director Descending from a line of artisans and craftspersons, Emily's passion for creating and designing started at a young age. That passion led her to the University of Houston, Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture & Design, where she earned her B.S. in Industrial Design. Her post-grad experience includes product development, interior design, window display and sign art, and showroom management. For the past few years she has served as project coordinator for an interior design group for a national company, and enjoys the role of team organizer. She has moved projects through the interior design process, from initial client engagement to final installation. Emily, Designer and Founder of Shiny Elephants, started this company in order to create beautiful expressive tabletop items — dinnerware, serveware, linens, and gifts — that can become vessels for your stories, providing inspiration, comfort, or delight. Emily believes objects become intertwined with the memories of their owners — time capsules that incite memory and emotion in their owners throughout their lives.

Chloe Priebe | Head of Marketing Chloe comes from a background in theatrical design. Her favorite medium is video, though she also dabbles in writing as well as in visual arts. She earned her B.F.A. from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts. Chloe enjoys design even more deeply when she is able to use it for something she believes in. She recently co-founded a non-profit organization that is based online, designing their website. She hopes to use design to perpetuate good in the world and in her community. Chloe has been with Shiny Elephants since the beginning, curating SE's social media presence. She is also our web designer and editor, and enjoys working with Emily to bring our creative vision to life through images and text.

Louella Picante | Associate Product Manager Louella's journey towards Shiny Elephants has been unique. She began her career as a Registered Nurse, and quickly moved from student to teacher, working as a Clinical Instructor in Nursing Schools for four years. She then served as a staff nurse in hospitals and polyclinics, during which time was named as Employee of the Month. Louella began her online career in 2017, and since then has worked as a virtual assistant, freelancer, recruitment-sourcer and transcriptionist. With Shiny Elephants, she helps to supervise production and logistics — sourcing materials, corresponding with manufacturers, and organizing order fulfillment to ensure our products safely reach your doorstep. She believes that the key to success lies within perseverance, determination, and dedication, tenants she applies to the work
