Getting to Know the Friendship Pattern
I'm thrilled to announce that the Friendship pattern is officially finished! It took months of dedicated research and exploration into the meaning and symbols of friendship, and the result is a composition that attempts to express those concepts at a single glance. Every element of this design was meticulously sketched and painted to capture the essence of this resilient relationship. I must say, it's been quite a journey. A journey that I am happy to share with you now. Below are pictures of my design development process.
Everything started with a little reading to identify symbols and
imagery that could capture the essence of FRIENDSHIP. Then the
fun began - I got out my pencil and eraser and began assembling
the elements of the pattern, like pieces of a puzzle, to tell the love
story of friends. Iterate. Iterate. Iterate. Even after I could visualize the design,
there were still a hundred little tweaks to make to get it just right on paper.

Painting the Layers
Appropriately, this pattern of friendship was painted at the beach, drawing inspiration from the blissful and serene surroundings, active with wildlife and levity. This pattern is composed of three layers of images. The first layer, the Sun and Moon, act as the backdrop for friendship's complex and complementary nature. The Bubbles, the second layer, maintain an atmosphere of playful, light-hearted fun. And finally, the Three Fish, the circle of friends, all unique, all share a united interest (the Moon) which secures their alliance.

So here it is. All elements layered to create a composition of juxtaposition - of contrast and compliment, levity and depth, individuality and unity. Stay tuned! In the coming weeks I'll reveal fabrics and products for the Friendship Pattern!
